Tour Overview & Description
Iconic Riverside Khmer-Style Prang, Porcelain Mosaics & Chao Phraya Cross-River Ferry
Perched on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River in Thonburi, Wat Arun Ratchawararam (commonly known as the Temple of Dawn) is one of Thailand's most striking visual landmarks. Named after Aruna, the Hindu god of dawn, its central prang catches the morning sunrise and glows dramatically at twilight.
Ascend the steep steps of the central 70-meter-high Khmer-style tower, encrusted with thousands of pieces of colorful glazed Chinese porcelain and sea shells that once served as ballast on trade junks. Take in panoramic vistas over the winding Chao Phraya River, the Grand Palace skyline, and historic riverside neighborhoods.
